Day4: Disneyland. Day5: Ngong Ping

I wrote this entire post and somehow managed to lose it. After which, I was too lazy to post it again. So this post comes really really late.

This is Day 4 and Day 5 of my 6 days suggested itinerary for Hong Kong. Aim of this post is to highlight how we managed to commute with 2 young kids, 3 small rolling bags and a convertible backpack cum suitcase.

On Day 4, we checked out of Hotel Eaton, and proceeded to Disneyland.

To reach Disneyland from Kowloon:

We walked to Jordan metro station which was around 10 mins from our hotel.

From there we caught the MTR going towards Tsuen Wan (Red line).

We got down at Lai King and caught the Yellow Line that goes to Tung Chung.

For Disneyland, we need to get down at Sunny Bay and catch the cute Disneyland train.

I chose Hong Kong for a vacation just for this ease of commuting, while my kids are small.

Disneyland MTR We dropped off our luggage at the Disney Hollywood Hotel before hitting the park. This entire transfer must have taken around 2 hours.

Eat: Lots of food options at the resort, (but none too tasty). Dinner buffet at Hotel Disneyland.

Sleep: Hollywood Hotel, Disneyland

Day 6: Ngong Ping

We hoped to fit in Ngong Ping and some Disneyland on this day. But things didnt turn out as planned when we found the Citygate outlet at Tung Chung. Oh well, atleast got to buy gifts for everybody back home.

For Ngong Ping, we needed to first transfer to Sunny Bay by the Disneyland Train, and then catch the MTR to Tung Chung. From Tung Chung, you need to take the cable car to the Big Buddha. You can buy the cable car tickets either at the ticket counter or from agents who stand outside.

To avoid crowds, try reaching early. Though, getting up early is too much to expect after the Disneyland hangover :)

I liked the view of the Hong Kong airport and the South China sea from the cable car, but what I liked the most was the view of people trekking down below. I wished I had more time and could have walked that route.

View from the Ngong Ping Cable Car

Eat: Garden Restaurant at Ngong Ping had great food.

Sleep: Hotel Disneyland. The luggage tranfer from Hotel Hollywood to Disneyland Hotel was managed by the Hotel staff.

Day 6: Back to Disneyland.

Luckily we had an evening flight out of Hong Kong. So we had almost half a day at our disposal, to spend at Disneyland. It being a working day, there were no queues in almost all rides. I cannot imagine no waiting for Space Mountain, after experiencing the California version of it. I was thrilled beyond words.

All in all, this itinerary turned out to be a great success.

Here's my favourite pic of the day:
